Vratsa, Bulgaria 2018

jeanhatcherson

In August, Corawill was excited to have our largest group of volunteers to date in Vratsa, Bulgaria. The children at the two social homes we visit were thrilled. Western Connecticut State University's Honor' Club sponsored 20 volunteers and two others were students at Danbury High School. We played UNO, the matching game, cooked American pancakes and s'mores, put together puzzles, learned to wrap and rock a sari and created and decorated biographical poems in English and Bulgarian to share with the children. We also visited the community pool twice and saw the light show at nearby Ledenika Caves. The fence surrounding the social home also got an update in a beautiful shade of chocolate brown - thank you to our painters. The week also included a Mexican pinata, football and a pizza party with music.

A special thanks to our Bulgarian volunteer translators. they worked very hard and our large group was full of questions. Also, once again our host Tabitha Foundation managed to keep the logistics running smoothly. Many new friendships were made and we look forward to coming back next year.
